If you are looking to buy a used car, you may have noticed that some cars are designated as "certified." This stands for Certified Pre-Owned or CPO, and it is a designation given out by the manufacturer for the best used cars. Here are six differences between a "normal" used Subaru and a Certified Pre-Owned version.

Inspection. A used Subaru on a car lot may or may not have gone through an inspection process. But, a CPO Subaru is guaranteed to have gone through a thorough 152-point inspection before it earned its certified status. If any problems were found, the vehicle was repaired using genuine Subaru parts.

Financing. By choosing a CPO Subaru, you may be eligible for special financing rates. These rates are not available on traditional used cars.

STARLINKâ„¢ subscription. Your Certified Pre-Owned Subaru will come with a one-year trial subscription to the STARLINKâ„¢ Safety Plus Package with Automatic Collision Notification. This system gives you extra peace of mind knowing your car can call for help even if you can't. With a standard used Subaru, you will have to pay for this service during the first year.

Warranty. Because CPO models are newer, they are still under warranty coverage. A CPO Subaru is covered by its factory-backed 7-year/100,000-mile Limited Powertrain Warranty that includes a $0 deductible. You may not get any warranty coverage with the average used car.

SiriusXM® Trial. If the CPO Subaru you choose is properly equipped, you will get to enjoy a complimentary three-month trial of SiriusXM satellite radio. This benefit is not available on non-certified used cars.

Owner Loyalty Coupon. When you purchase a CPO Subaru, you will get a $500 Owner Loyalty Coupon that you can save and use towards your next new or used Subaru. You won't get this with just any used car.
